2026 CONVENTION STUDENT HOST & PRESENTER AUDITIONS
Attention students attending the STN Convention! Do you have a talent for live performances? Audition for a chance to be selected as one of this year’s co-hosts, presenter, or correspondent for the 2026 STN Excellence Awards, Closing Ceremony or the debut of our new live Pre-Show!
To audition, prepare a short video up to 60 seconds of yourself or with a partner based on the prompt provided below. You can be creative! You can do a stand-up, commentary, commercial or anything else that showcases your on-screen talent.
Students who have been past presenters will not be chosen again in order to give those who have not yet had the chance an opportunity.
AUDITION PROMPT OPTIONS
CHOOSE ONE OF THE SCENARIOS BELOW AND ENLIST SOME FRIENDS TO HELP IF NEEDED:
Red Carpet Correspondent - You are a live red carpet correspondent. Greet the audience, interview arriving celebrities in real time, react to big moments, and pitch engaging story angles as the event unfolds
Backstage - You are a backstage reporter interviewing winners immediately after they leave the stage. Include an energetic intro, conduct the interview with 2–4 thoughtful questions, and close the segment smoothly.
Host - You are the main host of the awards show. Deliver an exciting opening monologue and introduce the first award category, including the nominees and the winner.
AUDITION GUIDELINES
Up to five total student entries per school may enter.
One team of two or individuals may apply. However, if you apply as a team this does not guarantee you will be chosen as a team. You may be individually chosen.
Submissions could be selected for either Excellence Awards, Closing Ceremony, or a Pre-Show correspondent for both award shows.
High School and Middle School students are eligible.
Schools must be current STN members.
Students must be registered to attend the 2026 STN Convention.
Advisers will register entries through the Dashboard.
Entries must not exceed 60 seconds.
Entries must be recorded in landscape mode.
Submissions must be no larger than 100MB and uploaded to the Dashboard.
Presenters will be required to attend meetings in preparation for convention.
Presenters are required to dress formally for the Excellence Awards and Closing Ceremony.
Presenters are required to attend two run-throughs prior to Excellence Awards and Closing Ceremony
Presenters are required to remain within the ballroom after call time on your show day without prior approval from the executive producers.
You must be available for the entirety of the Excellence and Closing Ceremonies to apply. Presenters are required to be present for the duration of the entire show.
There is no fee to audition.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Judges are looking for presenters who are confident, engaging, and genuinely connected to their audience. Bring energy, warmth, and professionalism—but most importantly, be yourself. This isn’t a stiff news broadcast; it’s a stage audition. Let your personality shine while still showing that you can hold the spotlight with clarity, poise, and presence.
