STN offers several membership options for schools, industry professionals, and supporters with a shared passion for broadcast journalism and film education.

To become a member, click the join button below.  If renewing your membership, you can use your previous email login, it will reload all of your data, and then make changes if needed.

You can register for membership online with a credit card, Paypal, or opt to pay later if you need to submit an invoice for a PO. Your membership will not be activated until full payment is received.

STN will accept Purchase Orders as a “promise to pay;” however membership will only be considered current upon receipt of payment.  If your membership is expired, click the registration button above, load your previous data, and complete the registration.

MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS

School Membership - $125

The School Membership is for teachers and schools interested in accessing our curriculum and participating in STN programs, such as contests, mentorship, and events. The membership is an annual flat fee that covers individual schools that has any number of students and teachers per campus. However, there is no district rate, so each individual school campus must join separately. Only one school membership is allowed per individual school. The School Membership includes:

Curriculum

STN has developed curriculum materials available to school members, including lesson plans and online video training complete with study guides and quizzes.  You will also have access to the STN Video Vault where you can upload B-roll segments and search for footage to use in your own work.

Mentorship

Our mentorship program matches new teachers with veteran educators who provide guidance and support as their mentee navigates through the early years of teaching video production. It also provides an opportunity to collaborate with another teacher who is familiar with STN and can help you and your students learn more about our programs.

Competitions

Your membership allows your students to enter the various film, video and broadcast journalism contests that STN hosts throughout the year. Every contest is returned with a critique from a professional in the industry.

Convention

Of course, one of the biggest benefits is the opportunity to attend the STN Convention where more than 3,000 students and teachers come together for four days of education, interaction and competition. The convention includes more than 60 free professional sessions and more than 20 onsite contests.  It’s a one of a kind event – memorable for all and life-changing for some.

Community

You will have access to the STN ListServ and Facebook group that give you the opportunity to take part in online discussions and collaboration with other teachers just like you.

Honors

Member schools can submit students for consideration into the STN National Honor Society. We also offer graduating seniors the chance to be named Student of the Year, as well as offer teachers the opportunity to be honored with Teacher of the Year recognition.

Associate Membership - $75

The Associate Membership is for those interested in volunteering their time to STN, whether it is being a speaker at one of our events, helping judge contests, or mentoring a school. This includes industry professionals, retired teachers, alumni, or donors and supporters.  This membership is not for current teachers or schools. Full membership benefits, such as accessing curriculum and participating in contests, are not included with this membership.

The Associate Membership Includes:

  • Opportunity to mentor a school broadcast and/or film program

  • Opportunity to judge contests

  • Invitation to present at our annual convention
