ADVISORY COUNCIL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

THE ROLE OF AN ADVISORY COUNCIL MEMBER

The Advisory Council is a volunteer group formed to give advice, be a sounding board and support to the STN board of directors and Executive Director.  An advisory council member can be a teacher, student, industry professional, sponsor, alumni, etc. The Advisory Council members are selected by the Executive Director and confirmed by the board. They will work closely with and be asked by either the Vice President or Executive Director to weigh in on key issues facing STN. They may be invited to sit in on board and/or committee meetings when necessary.

STN intends that Advisory Council members will be a diverse group of people who represent the voice of the affiliates, sponsors and industry professionals across the USA, giving us valuable feedback and asking tough questions.

An Advisory Council member may contribute to the organization in many different ways. Advisory Council members may choose to chair or participate in committees, but this is not a requirement of the position. Advisory Council members could also assist in awareness, outreach and fundraising efforts to help grow STN.

Serving as a member of the Advisory Council is also one path to becoming a future member of the STN Board of Directors.
