Delbert "Ken" Tieman had the least sexy-sounding job title on the convention team: truck driver. Ken drove the big truck with all of the supplies, AV, awards, and other stuff that it took to produce the 2008 show. He had been STN's contracted driver for three of the five years that STN has produced a convention. He loved every minute and every mile of that assigment.

Ken lived a full life, and he was full of stories, most of which are too colorful to print here. He experienced a texture and spectrum of life that most people can only read about.

He died as he lived, at a rest stop along a highway, surrounded by the senses that made him whole: the diesel fuel and the rumble of the engines, the big tires, and the big men with soft-hearts who drive those rigs. He went home right there, without pain and without regret.

He was 70 years old.

His widow, Jeanne, says he loved the STN Convention and the kids who came together once a year. In lieu of flowers, she has requested that donations be made, in his memory, to a scholarship fund that has been created for the purpose of offsetting the travel expenses of students attending future STN Conventions.
