The theme of the latest STN National Affiliate Convention was Networking and the convention afforded students and teachers many opportunities to do just that. The most obvious was the chance to meet other STN Affiliates from across the country and to share the passion and commitment to scholastic broadcasting. It was four full days of learning, sharing and inspiring each other to reach new heights. Networking also included the chance to meet professionals who brought new tricks, new equipment and new insight into the science and the craft. Also this year, filmmakers exposed teens and teachers to the whole world of cinematic production. Thirteen vendors joined the nearly 150 schools to bring valuable information about college opportunities, software programs and online services. Other vendors donated prizes for the Super Card event. These vendors offered yet another opportunity for networking as they illuminated and connected new prospects. The networking theme reminded each and every attendee to take every chance to learn something new – a nugget to take home and employ in their work or share with friends. Planning is already underway for the 2009 STN National Affiliate Convention in Orlando, Florida. Registration starts June 1st, 2008 for the show which is scheduled for March 18-21, 2009. The Student Television Network hopes to see everyone on Orlando in 2009.
